Some Like It Hot review: Billy Wilder's classic looks prescient today

Nothing about "Some Like It Hot" will particularly offend or horrify audiences watching it anew in 2018. Its exploration of complex themes — gender, sexuality, violence — are hardly revolutionary these days.

But in 1959, it was. Viewers were not used to the idea of men exploring their sexuality, the idea of men dressing up as women. "Psycho" was still a year away and so violence was still kept to an absolute minimum.

Simply by tackling all of these themes, "Some Like It Hot" is an impressive piece of cinema.
